Practical Tapered Bastard Sword

Made in Australia by MFC. This is a proper full full tang sword for heavy stage combat. It has a high temper to be extremely durable yet flexible. The handle is leather bound wood making it ideal to absorb shock from strikes and parries. Fitted with pear shaped scent stopper pommel so it works extremely well as a 2 handed or a bastard sword. The tapered blade improves the centre of balance, it feels comfortable as a very long single handed sword.

The late medieval longsword, also colloquially referred to as bastard-sword or hand-and-a-half sword , is a type of straight-bladed European sword . Contemporary terms included Langschwert ("long sword") in German , spadone ("large sword") in Italian and montante in Portuguese. Use of these swords lasted from roughly 1250 to 1550 , declined in the late 16th century, and they were obsolete by the early 17th century.
